Rules & Policies

The staff should be alerted to any changes in your dog’s behavior or physical condition. Examples would include: loose stool, surgery, vomiting, medication, lumps, bumps, etc. For the protection of all our guests there are no exceptions. If your dog isn’t feeling well, please call the office and cancel your scheduled visit. If we have two calls with similar symptoms notes are sent out to clients and emails sent to notify. Dog school is just like human school! Typically veterinarians see dogs for “back to school” sniffles when the weather changes. When humans aren’t feeling too good, this is typically when our dogs need to stay home also.

  • Dogs must wear a snap or quick release collar with identification. Please note: Wag ‘N’ Tails does not allow any type of metal collars in any of our programs, or buckle collars in day care for safety reasons.
  • Dogs should be generally healthy and must be up to date on all health requirements. Bordetella is normally administered once a year, although with regular interaction with “dog friends” you should consider an update every six months. Stool exams must be current and negative every year in order to continue care.
  • During flea and tick season, all dogs must be on a scheduled flea/tick preventative.

Complete and Return to Get Started

All guests must fill out a Pet Profile and Hold Harmless Contract. Download these documents below and bring them with you on your first day to save time.

Pet Profile Form         &         Hold Harmless Contract

Behavior

Dogs should be non-aggressive, and not food or toy protective. Our staff of trainers has the right to dismiss any dog based on misconduct or aggressive behavior of any kind at any time. NO EXCEPTIONS. Any type of uncontrollable or aggressive type behavior will be determined at the discretion of the staff and private lessons will be encouraged. Just as there are certain types of people who prefer not to be in groups, it’s not uncommon to find the same in dogs! Not EVERY dog is cut out for this type of group interaction program, if we find that your dog is not comfortable in any way due to fear, anxiety or of course aggressive type behavior he/she will be dismissed.

We take pride in being honest with our pet parents at Wag ‘N’ Tais and we will not have a dog stay with us if they are overwhelmed or uncomfortable. The parent will be encouraged to schedule a private consultation with our behaviorists to determine which program would be better, or if there would be a place offering a different type of service locally that we would recommend for that type of dog and his/her behavior or personality traits. For example, some dogs do better in an outdoor type of enviornment, some are better with in home pet sitters due to their age, etc.

Hold Harmless Waiver

All pet parents are required to sign a hold harmless waiver and fill out a detailed pet profile. Our waiver clearly states that you are financially responsible for your own pet and any accidents or injuries inflicted upon another dog in our care. The waiver also states that you have followed all Wag ‘N’ Tails rules and regulations, your dog is fully vacccinated and is non aggressive. If your dog has ever bitten anyone or anything you are not a candidate for our daily interaction programs, although you inquire about training services.

General Rules

We do not allow dogs to only board with us occasionally when you travel. In order for our guests to feel and remain comfortable with us, it’s imperative that they visit us for bonding purposes more often than only when you travel! Otherwise, your dog will associate coming to Wag, means you are leaving! We want your dog to look forward to coming to see us! We are not a “kennel” and we’re proud of that fact. For this reason, we REQUIRE a visit every six months for our boarding dogs so that we can be alerted to any behavior changes, changes in age can sometimes mean changes in medications, physical abilities, etc. We offer a five hour refresher visit after 6 months at no charge as a thanks to you from your dog to become reacclimated!

  • Please allow your dog to eliminate before entering. The designated area for our clients is located in front of the building. Our staff will clean up after your pet for your convenience.
  • Please allow an attendant to bring your dog back to the activity room when you arrive. For training and safety purposes only staff members are allowed beyond the play and training room entrances.
  • Please keep your children close to you at all times. Some of our dogs can get a little over excited when “company” arrives and we want to prevent any accidental scratches or ian njury from occurring.

What to Bring

Wag ‘N’ Tails provides everything our guests could want or need at our “dog house.” We just ask that you provide the following, always clearly labeled with your dog’s first and last name:

Meals

We do not want to upset your dogs usual feeding routine by feeding a different food, this can cause an upset stomach and anxiety. Please provide the following:

Your dogs meal(s) in a separate zip lock bags. Please include your scooper that you use at home if you choose to bring your dog’s bag of food in a large bin for boarding stays over three nights.
Please don’t forget a snack or training treats for every visit. Some of our dogs have sensitive stomachs or allergies and some of our “kids” work best in training with a special reward.

Bedding

We provide bedding and pillows for those who are not “chewers.” We discourage you from bringing your dog’s bedding from home for day care, although we do ask that you bring a scent filled item for our overnight guests. As long as what you bring is washable and safe! It sounds silly, but the dogs notice and enjoy when we hand out their stuffed animals, blankets, pillows, etc at bed time!

Toys

For safety reasons, we use certain types of toys that are easily disinfected, safe and veterinarian recommended in our activity rooms. Although, if you wish to provide one “scent filled” fleece toy (labeled) for bedtime, this is acceptable.

Medicines

Be sure you clearly label the dosage and frequency of the specific medicine to be administered. Please be aware of the additional fees for medicine administration. Our staff is certified at our school in health and safety and also medicine administration. Tracking properly is imperative. We chart and track medicines very carefully and treat this service very seriously. Some dogs may be turned away and suggested to board with their veterinarian if diabetic, geriatric, etc.

Required Age

Sorry, for safety reasons we do not board dogs over the age of 13. Young puppies are eligible to stay with us as long as they meet the health requirements.

Please allow us provide…

Wag ‘N’ Tails is here to pamper and provide a home away from home for your pet! Please allow us to provide everything that is not listed above, including items such as bowls and crates.
